“There are two things in elections, it’s either you win or you lose so losing an election wouldn’t be a problem for my brother” – Alfred Mahama, an elder brother to President John Dramani Mahama, has stated prior to the December 7 general elections.
In
an interview on OKAY FM’s morning show dubbed, ‘Ade Akye Bia,’ Alfred,
who is also a businessman and mining consultant, noted that his brother
will not hesitate to venture into farming if voted out of office.
“If
my brother falls behind Nana Addo in the upcoming elections, we will
pack our things and go to our village and continue with our farming. We
[Myself, John Mahama and Ibrahim Mahama] were all into farming before
politics, so President Mahama will go back to farming if Ghanaians do
not vote for him,” he told host Kwame Nkrumah Tikese.
Alfred
Mahama, however, lauded his brother for his tremendous developmental
projects across the length and breadth of the country.
“For
Ghanaians, it’s not development and mounting structures or good roads;
what they need is just make sure the money flows into their pockets. The
president will reshape his strategy and tune himself to what Ghanaians
want if maintained.”
According to him, “This
election should not be violent; it’s not a do or die affair. All we are
doing is working hard to maintain him [President Ma

We’r The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said it will be magnanimous enough to allow the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) win one seat in the Volta Region in the impending December 7 Parliamentary election.
According to the party,
this charitable gesture will not be given on a silver platter but will
only be possible if the NPP put in hard work during the crucial polls.
The
NPP under the current Fourth Republic won a seat in the Volta Region
for the first time in 2004 election, with Joseph Kwaku Nayan emerging as
the Member of Parliament for Nkwanta North in a region which is the
stronghold of the NDC.
Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has stated that President John Dramani Mahama and his relatives did nothing extraordinary by donating GHc300, 000 to the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. The amount was donated as part of efforts to support the Cardiothoracic Centre, and as well to fulfill his promise made during the death of his mother to donate the entire monies received as donations made to him and his family during the funeral of his late mother who passed away in June this year, 2016. He noted President Mahama gave this money out for the purposes of winning more voters to his side and not by his own free will, but my little advice to him is to start parking his luggage to leave his position because it would no longer belong to him in some few months to come. “Ghanaians are tired of his propaganda gimmicks,” he said. Commenting on Supreme Court Justice, Justice Jones Dotse’s appeal for political parties to accept the decisions of the courts in the up-coming parliamentary and presidential election, he furiously stated that the NPP would in this year’s election not tolerate any unsuitable behavior from the camp of the National Democratic Congress [NDC] and the Electoral Commission [EC], as it happened in 2012. He claims his party with its own figures collated from all the polling stations would declare their own results if the EC decides to delay the process. However, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker as his co-panelist on the programme indicated that such harsh words by members of the NPP have prevented them from winning the presidential seat, yet they keep speaking in that manner with the believe of winning the December polls. “The fact of the matter is that they would lose the elections, for not believing in the dealings of the EC,’ Ade Coker said. Hitting back at Sir John’s initial comment against President Mahama and his family, he [Ade Coker] stressed “Mahama and his family had their own businesses, which gave them profits before their brother (John Mahama) became President of Ghana; it is not his presidency that has made them who they are today”.

NPP replies PPP; don’t drag us into needless debates by paparazi(): 15:49 On Oct 14, 2016
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said it would not be dragged into “needless” debates with the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) over the disqualification of some presidential aspirants.
According to the NPP, such a debate will be a distraction to the party's campaign.
The PPP had accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of being selective in the disqualification of presidential aspirants and said even though the NPP and NDC for instance did not meet the requirements set, they were not disqualified.
