Some officials in government who are President Nana Akufo-Addo’s peers
behave like “messengers” around him, former presidential spokesperson in
the Kufuor administration has said.
In his view, the president has “got to put together a group of people
who will not be afraid to say: ‘Mr President let’s do this and
let’s do
it right’,” Mr Executive Director of the Centre for Freedom and Accuracy
told Moro Awudu on Class91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show on Thursday, 2
November, adding: “Not all these old men who are always kowtowing [to
him].”
Discussing issues concerning vigilantism by pro-NPP groups, Mr Awuni
said it was important for the president to get advisers that will tell
him the bare facts upon which he can act.
“Some people who are actually his age mates are behaving like
messengers to him and I keep saying it and they fight me all the time,
we’ve got to stop it.
“When President Trump sits with his son-in-law Gerard Kushner, that boy
is thirty-what [years old] but he is his political adviser. It doesn’t
come with age, it comes with some gift and you’ve got to recognise that
in people and so our president needs to do something about it,” Mr Awuni
added.
