According to him, the youth of the
country will have themselves to blame if they repose trust in the NPP as
the party has no plans to improve their living conditions of the youth
when it assumes power.
President John Mahama
was speaking at Tarkwa Nsuaem in the Western Region on Saturday as part
of his campaign tour with a little over a week to the polls which has
been described by many political watchers as crucial.
Addressing
a teeming crowd of NDC supporters, the President promised that his
second term of office will see further development and the creation of
more jobs for the youth.
He added that the
youth including NPP National Youth Organizers have had their economic
conditions improved due to the sterling performance of his government.
“Be vigilant and don’t be deceived by the NPP. In the year 2000, the same thing happening now occurred.
The
NPP asked the youth if they were able to marry under the harsh economic
condition of the tenure of the Rawlings administration, and promised
that if they (NPP) should win power, economic conditions will improve to
enable the youth marry.
But when they won
power, and they youth still complained they were unable to marry, the
NPP then made a false claim that Ex-President Rawlings cost the country
huge debt and so they had had to settle that debt first before things
will improve.
Most of the youth were not able
to marry, it is during my tenure that they have begun to marry, and even
the NPP National Organizers have been able to marry during my tenure of
office.”
